Modifications I plan on making:

Theme redesign: Ocean/Pirates

• art rework
  • ocean backgrounds
  • sand/beach environment hazards
  • new player, enemy sprites/animation
  • new menu UI
• sound rework
  • new projectile sounds to match the redesigned theme
  • new music to match the redesigned theme
  • new enemy/player hit sounds
• new level: boss fight
  • fight a Kraken with custom behavior, art, sounds
  • if I have time I would also like to add two more bosses:
    • a giant whale
    • a giant pirate ship

  • custom cannonball projectile
  • new menu background
• Game Play Changes:
  • Power-Up's
    • Each Power-Up has its own animation to indicate that it is active
    • Echo Shot
      • shoots 4 additional rapid-fire shots after the player shoots
    • Radial Wave
      • shoots a wave of projectiles out in a circle from the player
    • Mystery box
      • spawns a weighted-random power up
        • echo shot: 78% chance
        • radial wave: 22% chance
      • complete with animation
  • New Player Controls
    • steering left and right with WASD or arrow keys
    • the boat carries momentum instead of being instantaneously responsive like the spaceship
  • Weapon Changes
    • Slower single shot cannonball
    • Only fires straight forward to match the direction of the cannon on the boat
  • New Levels
    • 4 beach/ocean themed levels
